Rybelsus vs Ozempic: Is one of them right for you?

The delay of gastric emptying with semaglutide may influence the absorption of concomitantly administered oral medicinal products. Trials were conducted to study the potential effect of semaglutide on the absorption of oral medications taken with semaglutide administered orally at steady-state exposure. With an elimination half-life of approximately 1 week, semaglutide is present in the circulation for about 5 weeks after the last dose. The clearance of semaglutide following oral administration in healthy subjects is approximately 0.04 L/h. In the event of overdose, appropriate supportive treatment should be initiated according to the patient’s clinical signs and symptoms. A prolonged period of observation and treatment for these symptoms may be necessary, taking into account the long half-life of RYBELSUS of approximately 1 week.

The choice between Rybelsus and Ozempic depends on the patient’s goals, preferences, and the professional opinion of their healthcare provider. Specific side effects of Rybelsus or Ozempic are unique to each drug. During separate clinical trials, Rybelsus caused decreased appetite in 6% to 9% of participants.
